The Special Education Tech III – RBT role provides academic instruction and behavioral support in special purpose schools. This role will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to design and provide services that support the achievement of academic, behavioral and daily living goals of students in accordance with the Individual Treatment Plan, IEP and/or behavioral support plan.
Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
Education: Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
License/Certifications: Certification of completion for the RBT 40 hour training, completed RBT initial competency assessment, passed the RBT exam and received Registered Behavior Technician Certification required. Must maintain ongoing certification. Certification as an Education Technician III from the Maine Department of Education (minimum of 90 credits in approved study) required.
Experience: One year of relevant experience working with children or youth with developmental disorders and/or challenging behaviors in a school, hospital or residential setting preferred.
Additional Skills/Requirements Required: DOE fingerprinting.
Additional Skills/Requirements Preferred: Knowledge and skills necessary to provide education and care to students/patients (ages 5-20). Minimal proficiency in swimming in shallow and deep water to secure safety of students in event of an emergency.
