About the College:

The College of Health and Human Development (HHD) at California State University, Northridge (CSUN) is committed to student success. We are proud of our diverse faculty and staff. We have 50 staff members and a faculty of over 350 full- and part-time academic professionals who provide and support education, advising and mentorship opportunities to over 6,500 students enrolled in courses on campus and online. This number includes over a hundred doctoral students as of the fall 2020 semester.

Through nine academic departments, we offer 11 undergraduate and 12 graduate degree programs, as well as self-supporting programs through the Tseng College of Graduate, International and Midcareer Education and two credentials in partnership with the Michael D. Eisner College of Education.

About the Department:

The Health Sciences (HSCI) Department is multidisciplinary. Our students learn the ways that various factors affect the health of individuals and communities. Our professional programs are founded in the liberal arts as well as the physical and behavioral sciences. With over 1,200 students, we offer accredited programs in Health Administration, Public Health, and Radiologic Sciences; and graduate-degree and certificate programs through the Tseng College. Our department is committed to teaching, scholarship, and student-centered active learning. We value equity and diversity, and foster the encouragement of innovation and community alliances. Each undergraduate degree program provides curriculum on the basic knowledge and training required for professional careers in the field, and is also excellent preparation for a career in medicine, dentistry, nursing, and other health-related professional graduate programs.

Position:

The department of Health Sciences at California State University, Northridge (CSUN) is seeking a tenure-track faculty member in the Health Administration program at the rank of Assistant Professor.

The successful candidate, depending on individual expertise, will teach and have research interests in

healthcare finance, economics, data analytics, or informatics. Based on program needs, other potential areas include: operations, organization behavior, strategic planning, policy, ethics, or other healthcare administration related areas.

In addition to teaching, the position requires weekly office hours, attending faculty meetings, participation in assessment of student learning, and service to the department, college, and university. The successful candidate may be required to teach on weekdays, evenings, weekends, and/or online and will be held to the standards and requirements of the college and department in which he/she/they is/are housed for recommending tenure and promotion. Given CSUN’s commitment to excellence in teaching, research, and engagement in a diverse environment, the successful candidate will help the Department achieve equitable academic outcomes for all students through teaching, student mentorship, scholarship, and service.

Required Qualifications: 

  • Doctoral degree in healthcare administration, health services research, healthcare management, business administration, health policy or a closely related field from an accredited institution. Candidates in the process of completing a Doctoral degree will be considered, but degree must be conferred before August 20, 2025.
  • College or University-level teaching experience or potential to teach in-person, hybrid, and/or online courses.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience creating an inclusive, student-centered learning environment for a diverse student body using effective engagement and culturally responsive pedagogy that leads to equitable outcomes for all students.
  • Research experience that includes adopting inclusive approaches to mentoring and working with others from diverse backgrounds.
  • An active or demonstrated potential of publication in peer-reviewed publications in the field.
  • Evidence of institutional service or potential for service to the program, department, college or university.
  • Engagement in professional organizations, editorial boards, or community service related to health administration at local, state, and/or national level.
  • Demonstrated leadership or administrative experience in academic or professional settings.
  • Work experience in healthcare administration or management, such as roles in healthcare or policy-making organizations.
  • Certification and/or additional training in one of the following fields: healthcare finance, economics, data analytics, or informatics.
