CONTINUING EDUCATION INSTRUCTOR

MANUFACTURING

Consider joining City Colleges of Chicago’s Continuing Education Department as a part-time manufacturing instructor. We are looking for dedicated and personable instructors to teach courses in all areas of manufacturing. This teaching opportunity can be in-person at our main campuses throughout the city or at our satellite campuses. There are also online courses and opportunities to work with corporate and government partners.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Teach or develop courses to meet learning outcomes and promote students’ active participation in their own learning.
• Create an effective learning environment that fosters students’ intellectual curiosity and helps students to problem solve using discipline-specific thinking strategies.
• Employ a variety of formative and summative assessments to ensure that classroom instruction leads to student learning and the attainment of the student learning outcomes for the course.
• Help students reach their academic, personal and career goals and foster a safe environment that respects the diversity of people and ideas by modeling respect for all students and conveying confidence in every student’s ability to learn.
• Adhere to City Colleges of Chicago code of ethics, Board rules and policies.

Inspection, testing, metrology, quality assurance, quality management, Six Sigma, lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, Kaizen

Automation and Robotics:

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Technology, Manufacturing Technology, Engineering or a related technical field.
• OR-
• Five years of experience in manufacturing, including expertise in one or more of the subject areas listed above.
• OR-
• Journeyman apprenticeship status plus three years’ experience in one or more of the subject areas above.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience with curriculum development and instructional design.
• Bilingual English and Spanish.
