Primary Responsibilities:
The primary duties of the Rail Engineer are to support the development of track and civil design plans, specifications, and cost estimates for a variety of mainline, industrial, yard and terminal projects with Class I railroads, transit agencies, shortline railroads, and industrial clients. Civil and track engineering assignments may include geometrics, drainage and utilities tasks and coordination with other disciplines. Project management support or task lead responsibilities may include managing scope, budget and schedule as well as development of design criteria, project guides, project meeting notes, and project controls. Candidate must be able to direct and mentor staff, and assist a lead engineer on larger projects as part of a multi-disciplinary/multi-office team. Position may require periodic client and stakeholder visits, site visits, field assessments, and construction inspection, as needed.
