Summary

Position Summary

This is a professional position which facilitates the provision of quality customer service for clients. Serves as the Resource and Referral Specialist for the applicable service area. Provides information about the program to callers and walk-in inquiries and does initial eligibility screening, scheduling applicants for comprehensive program intake and enrollment services, or other health related services and referrals as needed and appropriate. Assists with other tasks related to enrollment, re-enrollment, prescription assistance, care management, and other projects as assigned, to ensure members can access care as necessary. Initiates and prepares applications to assist enrollees in applying for free medications provided through the program. Coordinates with network providers' offices, members and companies to track the status of applications & other related documentation to determine if medications have been received by members. Advocates on behalf of members.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

  1. Education: High school level of knowledge preferred and at least two years' advanced education and experience to prepare reports, perform calculations, complete forms and write business letters.
  2. License/Certifications: N/A
  3. Experience: See "Education." General knowledge of state and federal agencies, community resources, and regulations acquired through no less than 2 years of experience in social/human services, health care management or related field.
  4. Computer competency will enable employees to operate a project's software system and meet the responsibilities of the position. Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint), Internet usage and DataNet software for PAP applications, if applicable.
  5. Interpersonal skills are necessary to effectively, compassionately and cordially interact with the public, including health care providers and applicants.
  6. Excellent verbal skills in order to explain policies and procedures to applicants, enrollees, providers and the public.
  7. Strong customer service, teamwork, resource knowledge and advocacy skills are essential.
  8. Requires significant initiative, independent judgment and discretion.
