Department Summary:
The N113 Integrated Space C2 department fields capabilities and establishes cross cutting enablers to deliver an integrated resilient Space C2 Enterprise for the Space Warfighter. Specifically, N113 is focused on enabling the Space Systems Command (SSC) Space System Integration Office and to drive impactful change within the Space C2 warfighting enterprise through systems of systems integration across all domains. To ensure SSIO integration solutions are cyber secure across all space portfolios, N113 works with the SSC Chief Information Office (CIO) to shape initiatives and enterprise guidance. N113 proliferates cyber resilient system engineering and integration solutions for advanced near-term rapid capabilities through work with the Space Rapid Capabilities Office (SpRCO) and longer-term Space C2 capabilities enabling closure of kill chain gaps through work with SSC Battle Management Command Control & Communications (BMC3). N113 performs numerous prototyping activities including systems modeling, software architecting and development, and analysis capabilities designed to enable MITRE and sponsor-driven analysis and research in all space mission domains across multiple customers, missions, and technology providers. The research, development, and outcomes of these efforts provide high-quality, comprehensive, quantitative insights for senior government decision makers shaping the future of our nation’s Space policy, operations, and systems. The N113 department is a major contributor to the Space Warfighting Division by enabling joint combat power and superiority in all domains in, from, and through space.
Roles & Responsibilities:
MITRE’s N113 Integrated Space C2 Department is seeking a Project Leader for the US Space Force (USSF) Space Systems Command (SSC) Chief Information Office (CIO) project. The SSC CIO drives efforts across the USSF to protect space information systems including protecting communications links between space systems and airborne and ground-based platforms; protecting space systems from advanced cyber-attacks and insider threats; and managing information that enables SSC program offices to develop and sustain systems in a manner that outpaces emerging threats.
This project will begin execution in FY25 as a new project in the Space Warfighting Division portfolio. This project will focus on impacting space warfighting through efforts to modernize space cryptography, integrate Zero Trust (ZT) architectures, and enable Digital Engineering (DE). The project requires strong collaboration between DAF and USAF level organizations to ensure cohered solutions and capabilities. Collaboration on Zero Trust initiatives will include Air Combat Command, DoD CIO, and SSC Space Systems Integration Office (SSIO) to ensure USSF leverages best of breed zero trust approaches. Collaboration on Crypto initiatives will require close coordination with AF Life Cycle Management Center (AFLCMC) Cryptologic and Cyber Systems Division (CCSD), Space Rapid Capabilities Office (SpRCO), National Security Agency (NSA), and SSIO to ensure space crypto roadmaps are aligned and achievable. Collaboration on Digital Engineering initiatives will include the Digital Transformation Office (DTO) and SSIO to align USSF efforts with the broader DAF strategy for building an integrated digital engineering environment.
