The Department of Pathology and Genomic Medicine at the Thomas Jefferson University offers a research position in systems biology of regenerative medicine. The position will be at the level of a Research Associate or a Postdoctoral Fellow depending on applicant’s qualifications and the duration of research experience after receiving a doctoral degree. Research Associate position requires five years of work experience after the completion of PhD.

The successful applicant will participate in a multidisciplinary project supported by the National Institutes of Health to study the molecular and cellular mechanisms driving liver regeneration in chronic liver disease and liver transplantation. The postdoctoral fellow will work in an interdisciplinary team to analyze bulk and single cell transcriptomics, spatial transcriptomics and multiplex protein expression, metabolomics, and proteomics data to unravel the multiscale processes governing end stage liver disease, liver regeneration and transplantation.

The position offers excellent scientific opportunities for cross training in leading edge quantitative and data analytical methods in a highly stimulating and diverse environment. The internationally collaborative research team includes faculty, staff, and students from many disciplinary backgrounds, including pathology, cell and molecular biology, engineering, bioinformatics, and computer science. The position is available immediately.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate should have a Ph.D. in computational biology, bioinformatics, computer science, or a related field, with significant research experience in application of bioinformatics tools and methods for biological data analysis. Experience in R/BioConductor, Python, or related state of the art tools for analysis of large omics data sets is required. Experience in using artificial intelligence methods for large scale data analysis is a plus, but not required. Candidates with a proven track record of working on systems biology research projects are preferred. This position requires a significant amount of teamwork and excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.

NOTE: Applicants with less than 5 years of experience post PHD may be considered for a postdoc fellow position.
