Position Summary:
The Audiovisual (AV) Project Engineer plays a key role in the successful delivery of audiovisual and IT projects within the construction industry. This position combines technical expertise in AV/IT systems with a solid understanding of project management principles. As an essential member of the project team, the Audiovisual (AV) Project Engineer assists in preparing proposals, developing presentations, and defining project scope, costs, schedules, and risks. The role ensures smooth project progression through all phases, including design, planning, execution, commissioning, and closure.
Requirements:
- Associate degree in technology or equivalent experience required;
- Bachelor's in Engineering preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years' experience in design and engineering support within the AV/IT industry.
- Certifications:
- AVIXA CTS certification required within 6 months;
- AVIXA ANP certification required within 1 year;
- AVIXA CTS-I certification preferred.
- Proficient with Windows and Apple software, AV/IT system commissioning, and producing architectural design documentation.
- Experience with hand tools, test equipment, and interpreting complex instructions.
- Familiarity with the International Building Code (IBC) and National Electric Code (NEC) is required.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to present, negotiate, and create high-quality documents.
- Ability to multi-task across several projects, travel as needed, and work flexible hours, including weekends.
- Must adhere to safety protocols and possess the physical mobility required for tasks like standing, lifting, and kneeling for extended periods. Ability to work in varying environmental conditions is essential.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in preparing cost estimates by reviewing blueprints and consulting with engineers and architects.
- Support site surveys and develop budget estimates, including labor, equipment, materials, and schedules.
- Collaborate with project teams to document system designs, ensuring projects stay within time, cost, and scope constraints.
- Work with design teams to develop AV/IT systems and prepare detailed drawings (e.g., facility plans, electrical plans, equipment schedules).
- Provide support for project implementation, including documentation, scheduling, and required tools.
- Assist with HVAC, lighting, and acoustic calculations, and troubleshoot AV/IT systems with field engineers.
- Aid in bid reviews, submittal preparation, and testing procedures for project completion.
- Lead assigned projects, ensuring proper documentation, and contribute to final commissioning phases to meet client requirements.
- Maintain safety standards and certifications, aiming for a 75% billable workload.
