JOB SUMMARY

Under the general direction of the Director of Behavioral Health, the Expressive Therapist provides therapeutic interventions through creative arts, such as music, art, and drama, to support patients' emotional well-being and recovery. They assess individual needs, develop personalized treatment plans, prepares relevant materials, and facilitate group and individual sessions. By promoting self-expression and communication, the therapist helps patients cope with illness, trauma, and stress, fostering healing and personal growth. Collaboration with medical staff ensures a holistic approach to patient care.

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in Art Therapy program,
  • Minimum of two (2) years of related experience in an adult, inpatient hospital setting with knowledge of psychiatric patient care techniques and understanding of mental illness is required
  • Certification in CPR is required

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, and occasionally stoop or kneel. Using proper body mechanics, the employee may be expected to lift, pull, push or move patients, and/or equipment. Fine motor skills are required when using hands and fingers to handle, feel, or reach. Normal or corrected vision, hearing, and ability to speak are necessary.
