Position Title: Physical Therapist 

Department: Outpatient Rehabilitation

Purpose: To provide quality care to a variety of patients within Genesis Health System in a caring, professional and efficient manner. These settings may include inpatient, outpatient, and skilled care. To evaluate the patient's condition and develop, implement and coordinate a customized physical rehabilitation plan to enhance strength, flexibility, range of motion, motor control, skin integrity, balance, and functional mobility skills, with associated equipment as needed, as well as reduce pain and discomfort and prevent secondary impairments in neonatal, adolescent, adult and geriatric populations. To complete necessary documentation in an accurate and timely manner. To supervise clinical interns in and effective and professional manner and to supervise supportive staff effectively as required by Iowa and Illinois professional practice acts.

Report To: Supervisor, Outpatient Rehab

Supervisory Responsibility: Guidance: The job requires the provision of occasional guidance and training to others. The job does not have formal or official supervisory responsibilities.

Materials Responsibility: Very Limited. Work requires very limited responsibility for material resources. Examples of resources could include personal work materials, supplies or equipment, or very small amounts of cash. The employee has a very limited or indirect amount of control over these resources. Although human error might require the repair or replacement of materials, usually the cost of correcting these errors is minor. The variety and volume of resources is also very limited. Problems associated with material resources are very uncomplicated.

POSITION SPECIFICATION 

Education: Bachelor's Degree

Field Of Study: Physical Therapy

Special Training: Basic Life Support

Training Preferred: Word processing, spreadsheet, Illinois state license

Licensure/Registration: lowa state license. If licensed in another state, must obtain licensure within 1 year.

Experience: No experience required.

Interpersonal Skills: Interaction is with a variety of people inside or outside the organization. Communications are often difficult or stressful in nature. Contact with others involves complex, detailed and often sensitive topics. The job requires a high degree of interpersonal skills to deal with a range of complicated problem situations. Interactions involve gaining the agreement of others.

Physical Demands: Moderate to High Intensity: Work requires moderate to heavy physical exertion and effort. Forces exerted are equivalent to lifting up to 25 pounds. The need for physical stamina and endurance is significant. The degree of physical strain produced on the job is significant. It results in fatigue, and requires periods of rest. Job requirements for manual dexterity and physical manipulation are high. Work could involve the coordination of body movements involving various body postures. The position exceeds these high intensity demands rarely, 10% of the time or less.

Working Conditions: There is limited exposure to highly adverse environmental conditions including physical hazards, health and safety risks, and otherwise undesirable characteristics in the environment. Personal risks require safety equipment or precautions to be followed closely but the time the employee may be exposed to these conditions is limited to 10% or less of the work day.
