JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
The Department of Mathematics at The Pennsylvania State University (University Park Campus, State College, PA, USA) invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor or an Associate Professor position in Computational Mathematics. While the primary focus is on recruiting candidates for the Assistant Professor level, candidates at the Associate Professor level may also be considered. The department seeks to expand its expertise in Numerical Analysis and Scientific Computing, with interest in areas such as numerical methods for PDEs, scientific machine learning, quantum computing, data-driven modeling, and data science. Candidates whose research complements existing strengths or fosters interdisciplinary connections across departments are encouraged to apply.
Candidates for Assistant Professor must possess a Ph.D. (or equivalent terminal degree) in Mathematics or a closely related field by the appointment start date; must have demonstrated ability as a teacher or research worker; and must have shown definite evidence of growth in scholarly or professional achievement.
Candidates for Associate Professor must possess the same qualifications as the assistant professor but must also provide evidence of an established reputation in scholarly or professional achievement.

In addition to research in Mathematics or closely related fields, the position includes teaching in the Mathematics department at the undergraduate and graduate level, and service duties.
