PEER RECOVERY SUPPORT COORDINATOR

The UAB Department of Emergency Medicine (DEM) is expanding its Peer Recovery Support initiative in the main UAB Hospital Emergency Department (ED). We are specifically seeking a certified recovery support specialists (CRSS) who have successfully recovered from an opioid addiction to fill our Full-time Recovery Support Coordinator position. The Peer Recovery Support Coordinator will provide coverage to support the ED-based Opioid Use Disorder (OUD) program implemented in 2019 to stabilize and link OUD cases to Medication for Opioid Use Disorder (MOUD).
The Peer Recovery Support Coordinator will provide one on one support to patients presenting to the ED with Substance Use Disorder, to include but not limited to Opioid Use Disorder (OUD). This position will primarily be responsible for performing the day-to-day activities at the UAB Hospital Emergency Department (UED) for the above-mentioned program.

Hourly Range: $ 15.00- $23.20
Education
High School diploma or GED and two (2) years of relevant experience in a peer recovery support environment required.
The position is currently funded for 1 year, however, continued funding is actively being sought out. Certification
Required: Certified or eligible to be certified as a Certified Recovery Support Specialist (CRSS) by The Alabama Department of Mental Health OR Certified Peer Support Specialist through FORMLL OR Nationally Certified Peer Recovery Support Specialist (NCPRSS) by the Association for Addiction Professionals (NAADAC). NCPRSS preferred. Must obtain certification within one (1) year from date of hire into classification.
