Job Description

Due to an upcoming retirement, we are looking for a multi craft maintenance leader to join the Precoat team. Are you an experienced Maintenance Manager with strong leadership, project management & planning skills? If you answered yes, then read on! You will train employees, develop & maintain preventative maintenance programs, mentor & supervise all technicians with the purpose of ensuring departmental and operational safety and production goals. You will oversee & supervise the installation, maintenance, and repair of plant equipment, building, and grounds for our Portage, IN facility. Collaboration with the engineering team in the design and construction, alteration, or modification of existing facilities that may be needed is key to your success. Your responsibilities will include the following:

  • Oversee installation of new equipment & machinery.
  • Establish/maintain maintenance standards & supervise daily activity of the maintenance department. You will provide coaching, direction & assistance to the maintenance team in the performance of duties.
  • Assume daily responsibility for equipment to assure maximum productivity.
  • Compile & maintain factual information on plant facilities and use to make decisions accordingly.
  • Responsible for providing & scheduling manpower along with direction of employees necessary to accomplish all maintenance activities.
  • Work in conjunction with Production Manager to coordinate plant activities related to overall operations.
  • Prepare preventative maintenance programs for both short & long range economics.
  • Issue purchases requisitions & establish cost estimates for capital/replacement expenditures.
  • Work closely with Purchasing for Timely POs.
  • Using your superior leadership skills, you will set high standard in the area of safety throughout the facility.
  • Monitor and manage utilities daily (Gas\ Electric\ Water) to ensure efficiencies.
  • Select & develop maintenance employees to continue to elevate the success of the department.
  • Works closely Plant Manager, EHS Manager, Maintenance Supervisor and Purchasing.
  • Able to write/submit/make recommendations in a timely fashion for Capital Budgets.
  • Maintain regulatory records as performed by Maintenance.

Qualifications

As the qualified & selected candidate, you will have an Engineering degree or equivalent with 1 to 3 years in industrial maintenance management. No degree requires 8-10 years of experience, with a minimum of 5 years in a managerial role.

  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to work with a variety of individuals at all levels.
  • Must be able to function with minimal supervision and have excellent project management skills.
  • Skilled in implementation of preventative and predictive maintenance strategies
  • Troubleshooting electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and structural problems in the field, in a timely manner.
  • Experience in managing a fleet of material handling equipment (rail, crane, forklift, manlift). 
  • Needs to have excellent communication skills, verbal & written.
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office 
  • Experience with CMMS software strongly preferred.
  • PLC programming and trouble shooting Highly recommended.
  • Familiarity with AC & DC drives.
  • Data Driven.
  • Available during off hours in case you are needed.
  • Willing to alter work schedule to monitor Maintenance techs on off shifts.
  • Work to understand issues brought by operators and be able to communicate effectively with them to find resolution.
