Pitt Business is seeking a qualified candidate to fill the position of Chief of Academic Programs and Student Services. This senior staff position serves as a trusted advisor to School leadership and provides direct support to the Senior Associate Dean of Teaching and Learning. 

Responsible for leadership and effective management of the enrollment management strategy for the business school. Responsible for managing school level teams including international programs and integrated learning. Responsible for oversight, development, and direction of academic programs of the business school. Also responsible for working closely with program associate deans and directors in the effective execution of academic programs. 

Job Duties: 

  • Serves as an advisor on teaching and learning to senior management, especially the senior associate dean of teaching and learning.
  • Makes strategic and operational priorities actionable and is a primary conduit between programs and senior management. Helps to manage the portfolio of learning programs.
  • Supervises an enrollment management team which works cooperatively with marketing and program admissions to build relationships and promote the school’s brand and programs to prospective students and partners. 
  • Responsible for designing and leading a strategy to cultivate prospects, inquiries, and applicants to the school’s programs.
  • Manages school level international and experiential learning teams.
  • Works with associate deans and academic program directors to ensure programs are effectively executed and advance the school's mission and strategic priorities.
  • Works with faculty, staff, and administration to design and execute, new and innovative learning experiences.
  • Facilitate strategic planning and execution to integrate goals, assessments, and outcomes.
  • Provides budget management, assessment, goals, and strategies.
  • Organize and manage multiple project operations involving multiple and sometimes conflicting uses of resources.
  • Supervision of staff, which includes hiring, conducting performance reviews, documenting disciplinary actions, and overseeing other human resource administration. Provides professional development opportunities. Distributes and reviews work.
  • Establishes performance goals and evaluates success of assigned programs. This includes formulating policies and procedures for mapping out our processes to provide efficiency and improving our operating procedures. 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Master’s degree, PhD or Doctorate preferred
  • 10 years of relevant experience
  • Should have extensive experience in enrollment management, academic programs, and student services 

Job Summary

Executes strategic alignment, long-term planning, operational planning, and management oversight of major college, campus, or University-wide student affairs functions. Establishes the direction, goals, implementation strategy, evaluation means, student initiatives, and policies of the department. Maintains responsibility for budgetary matters. Directs effective communications, promotions, and public relations for the department.

Essential Functions Work is complex and strategic in nature, sets policy, anticipates trends. Decisions and actions have a direct impact on the operational and strategic outcomes of department or can impact a Responsibility Center or the entire University. High level of problem-solving skills are required.

Physical Effort Light. Little physical effort required. Duties are primarily sedentary. May be required to move objects up to 25 pound occasionally.
