Job Title: MS SQL Server DBA

1. Job Summary – highlight project details/what is exciting about the role :

Strong experience as a MS SQL Server DBA.

Overall, 8-12 years of Experience as MS SQL Server DBA

In-depth knowledge of SQL Server database Architecture, including database design, installation, configuration, and maintenance.

Proficiency in writing SQL queries, PowerShell scripts, automating reports.

Experience with database performance tuning and optimization techniques.

Familiarity with high availability and disaster recovery solutions, such as database Always On mirroring, log shipping, and clustering.

Knowledge of database security best practices and the ability to implement and enforce security measures.

Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.

Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Strong knowledge in AWS Environment.

Hands On with SQL RDS databases, DB refresh in RDS, knowledge of S3 bucket, IAM roles, SNS alarms, Snapshot and Recovery.

2. Key Responsibilities – list what the person will be doing on a day to day basis: % of time

• Installation, Administration and Maintenance of SQL Server Instances.

Implement and maintain database backup and recovery strategies to minimize data loss and downtime.

• Perform regular database maintenance tasks, such as index rebuilding, query optimization, and database tuning.
• Proactively identify and resolve database performance issues and bottlenecks.

Monitor and analyze database performance metrics and provide recommendations for improvement.

• Plan and execute database migration and upgrade projects from ON Prem to EC2 or RDS.
• Troubleshoot and resolve database-related problems in a timely manner.
• Document database configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.
• Setup High-Availability techniques like Always ON, Mirroring as part of Disaster Recovery Strategy for the Databases, troubleshooting issues.

Utilize your extensive experience to design, implement, and maintain high-performance SQL Server databases, ensuring optimal performance, availability, and reliability.

• Perform in-depth performance tuning and optimization, identifying and resolving performance bottlenecks, slow queries, and other related issues.

Analyze wait events and proactively address performance challenges to ensure smooth and efficient database operations.

• Oversee and manage database replication strategies, including setup, configuration, monitoring, and troubleshooting of replication in Standalone and Always ON.

Implement and manage Change Data Capture (CDC) processes to enable real-time data integration and synchronization across databases.

• Monitor database health using various tools, set up alerting mechanisms, and respond to incidents in a timely manner to minimize downtime and data loss.

Database upgrades, migrations, and patching while minimizing risks and downtime on both Standalone and Aways ON.

• Document database configurations, processes, and best practices, contributing to the creation and maintenance of internal knowledge resources.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in SQL Server database administration.
• Provide 24x7 support for critical production systems.

SQL Server Adminstration and AWS cloud

Oracle / PostgreSQL

Qualifications:

• A bachelor's degree in computer science or a related discipline
• Extensive knowledge of SQL and SQL server tools
• Handson in AWS cloud
• Database cloud migration expertise
• Experience in Database Performance, Development and Maintenance
• In-depth understanding of database security, backup and recovery, and performance monitoring requirements
• Familiarity with relational and dimensional data modelling
• Extensive knowledge in database design, implementation, and conversion
• Knowledge of PowerShell and Unix shell scripting
• Outstanding writing and verbal communication abilities
• Working knowledge of Linux /Windows Server infrastructures
