Data Governance Officer

Summary
Tulane University’s Data Governance Officer (“DGO”) will be responsible for implementing a university-wide Data Governance program as described in the Data Governance Policy. The DGO will work collaboratively with the Chief Data Security Officer (CISO) and Data Privacy Officer (DPO) and other stakeholders to establish and enforce data governance and related policies, promote data quality initiatives, and ensure that data is utilized strategically to drive desired outcomes. Tulane’s Data Governance Policy ensures the strategic use, management, and reporting of university data. The Policy requires the university to implement a data governance program to manage the quality, consistency, usability, accessibility, availability, and protection of all university data throughout its lifecycle. The focus of this role is to serve as a strategic and tactical leader for data governance for the University. The DGO is responsible for working with campus data stewards, owners, stakeholders, and operational and IT units to ensure that policies and processes exist to effectively share, protect, and facilitate the leveraging of data as asset in university planning, decision making, and in support of the university’s mission. Responsibilities includes providing oversight of data lifecycle management, establishment of data quality frameworks with a focus on data quality and protection of sensitive data, collaboration with business units to define data governance standards, and alignment of data practices with organizational goals. The DGO will establish and manage a formal university reporting strategy and related roadmap that would include information, tools, and resource growth and strategic priorities.

This position is classified as "exempt, salaried" and is assigned to pay grade 29.
