The Nancy & Donald Resnick Academic Center for Student-Athletes (RAC) provides comprehensive academic advising and support services for Temple’s 500 student-athletes. The Learning Specialist position is responsible for working directly with a caseload of student-athletes to facilitate the enhancement of their skills needed to be successful at the university level.
The Learning Specialist will assist in identifying student learning difficulties, coordinating referrals leading to appropriate testing and diagnosis, and will act as liaison to the Office of Disability Resources and Services (DRS). In addition, the Learning Specialist also works with other members of the Resnick Academic Support Center to provide and coordinate a full range of support in addressing student athletes' academic and study skill needs. The learning specialist works one on one with student-athletes to develop strategies to promote academic success. The successful candidate will be skilled at creating rapport and building productive relationships with student-athletes, while assisting colleagues in the development of a student-centered, service-oriented program of support. Perform other related duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in education, school psychology or related field and at least three years of directly related experience. At least one year of experience providing supplemental support for students with disabilities. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
