Position Summary
Provides quality patient care when performing mammography imaging services and related procedures by applying x-ray energy to demonstrate breast anatomy for interpretation and/or intervention while adhering to radiation safety principles.
Location: WPH (Winnie Palmer Hospital) Women's Imaging Center
Schedule: Monday through Friday; 8:00am to 4:30pm
Responsibilities
- Exercises professional judgment in performance of services and maintains a demeanor complimentary to quality care.
- Complies with FDA and MQSA regulatory requirements.
- Adheres to Orlando Health mission statements and strategic imperatives.
- Assessesthe patient’s physical condition and age specific needs.
- Provides instructions that achieve patient cooperation and desired results.
- Performs proper patient identification, acquires patient’s clinical history, and assures that the information is accurately documented.
- Positions patient, equipment, associated devices and manipulates technical factors, to achieve desired high-quality images for
interpretation.
- Assesses diagnostic images for technical quality, proper annotation, patient identification, and ensures that all breast anatomy is
demonstrated according to MQSA/ACR guidelines.
- Applies principles of radiation safety to minimize exposure to patients, self, and others.
- Requires utilization of Radiology Information System to accurately show arrival and completion of exams, correct coding of
procedures done, and retrieval of reports.
- Utilizes sterile technique for sterile procedures in accordance with OH policy and training. Administers medical aid as required for
any emergency.
- Comprehends and complies with Quality Control standards and participates in all Quality Control tasks.
- Applies appropriate standard precautions and personal protective equipment to prevent cross-contamination of contagious diseases.
- Utilizes all Corporate Radiology computer systems effectively and accurately.
- Ensures safety of all customers.
- Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state,
and local standards.
- Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies, department guidelines and education requirements.
Qualifications
Education/Training
- Graduate of accredited school of Radiologic Technology.
- Must have and maintain CME points as mandated by MQSA.
Licensure/Certification
- Valid Florida state license.
- Valid Advanced Level Mammography registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification.
- BLS/Healthcare Provider certification required.
