Waukegan Community Unit School District No. 60 serves nearly 15,500 students in preschool through grade 12 and is located halfway between Chicago, Illinois and Milwaukee, Wisconsin on the shores of Lake Michigan. The District has one early learning center, 15 elementary schools, five middle schools and a high school program divided between two 9th– 12th grade campuses. The District encompasses portions of Waukegan, Beach Park and Park City.

What We Need:

The Coordinator of Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) will be responsible for organizing professional development and learning opportunities that support the implementation and monitoring of a district-wide multi-tiered system of supports that ensures students’ academic and behavioral needs (Tier 1, 2, & 3) are identified and supported so that students can reach their full potential. The Coordinator will work directly with central office leadership and various departments as well as school based personnel to support the school based implementation of MTSS.

The Coordinator of ?Multi-Tiered Systems of Support & Social Emotional Learning will ?be directly responsible to the Director of Teaching & Learning.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  1. Assists district and school administrators to support professional development, planning and monitoring of the implementation of Multi-tiered System of Supports (MTSS)
  2. Supports central office and school based leadership in monitoring student achievement via data such as mCLASS, NWEA, benchmark, formative, and summative data.
  3. Provides professional development for administrators, certified staff, and non-certified staff on all components of Multi-tiered System of Supports from data analysis to implementation of research-based instructional and behavioral interventions
  4. Provides coordination of services and supervision to district MTSS specialists and SEL specialists
  5. Provides coaching and assistance to certified and classified staff in schools to improve student achievement through data analysis and improved instructional practices.
  6. Assists district and school-based leadership teams in developing strategic plans for school based deployment of Multi-tiered System of Supports and the use of research based instructional practices
  7. Assists school-based leadership teams and the district Cabinet in purchasing, distributing, and making use of support materials
  8. Ensures compliance with federal, state, local and school district laws, regulations, policies and procedures
  9. Coordinates regularly scheduled meetings with staff, student, parent and community groups
  10. Perform other responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor

Qualifications: 

  1. Commitment to the belief that all children, regardless of circumstances, can achieve at high levels.
  2. Master's degree or higher in education required, with administrator or supervisor certificate (Type 75) required
  3. At least five years successful teaching and/or student support personnel experience required
  4. Knowledge and experience with Functional Behavioral Assessment and implementation of behavioral interventions/programs at school, classroom, and individual levels
  5. Experience providing professional development preferred
  6. Experience or training in learning strategies preferred
  7. Successful completion of the state MTSS training preferred
  8. Strong leadership, interpersonal and communication skills
  9. Be able to successfully work in a collaborative environment.
  10. Able to mediate and resolve conflicts.
  11. Ability to interact with teachers, parents, outside agencies and central services staff.
