Job Description
- Competent in grading all varieties of grains including wheat, oil seeds, and pulses in accordance to the Canadian Grain Guide
- Report grading results in timely manner to the appropriate client(s) for inbound and vessel samples to provide real-time results to the terminals
- Grade and report container/railcar samples and fulfill any admin requests as needed
- Perform lab testing when required (Vomitoxin, Aflatoxin, Ochratoxin, Zearalenon, Fumonasin, Falling number, Wet Gluten, and Gluten Index)
- Clean grain samples using dockage carter/sieves and prepare them for grading in accordance to the CGC guide
- Maintain all equipment according to desired standards before performing the analysis (GAC machines, analytical scales, dockage machine, FOSS machine, etc.)
- Perform daily protein and scale checks to ensure equipment is properly calibrated
- Maintaining a clean working area which includes sweeping, dusting, logging-in and moving samples to the storage room and disposing samples that are out of the retention period
- Follow all requirements according to the Canada Grain Act and Canada Grain regulations.
- Able to follow CGSP protocol for sampling, CGC standards for sampling, SGS SOPs, any other client specific specs.
- Working with his/her supervisors or senior staff to solve day-to-day production and process problems, providing technical and operational guidance to other junior grading staff.
Qualifications
- A minimum of a High School diploma
- Experience as a Grain Grader Level 3 preferred
- Available to weekends as well as shift rotations (day shift, afternoon shift, and graveyard shift)
- Previous experience in performing preliminary grain inspections and grain grading would be an asset.
- Must be able to read, understand and follow work instructions in a safe, accurate and timely manner.
- Candidates must be proficient in using various types of computer software (Word, Excel. PowerPoint & Outlook).
- Proven ability to manage and coordinate multiple projects in a fast-paced, highly professional environment.
- Candidates must demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills including grammar and composition.
- Ability to work well with others & independently.
- Proven time management skills and a strong attention to detail.
- Works well under pressure.
- Travel to other SGS locations or client location may be required from time to time.
- Possess and maintains a valid driver’s license.
- Ensures full compliance with the company’s Health & Safety, Code of Integrity, and Professional Conduct policies.

Salary: $38 per hour
