SUMMARY: This position is responsible for evaluating property, acquiring consignments, building relationships, generating and responding to leads, participating with catalog production and sales processes, among other duties.
LOCATION: Park Ave at 56th
COMPENSATION: Commensurate based on experience. $80K - $120K
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties as may be assigned.
- Evaluate property and establish auction estimates.
- Acquire consignments both through Heritage-generated and individually-generated leads.
- Assist with authenticity evaluations.
- Assist in writing essays.
- Assist in proofing catalogs and other material.
- Market the property in auctions to clients.
- Contribute to the expansion of the client database.
- Answer inquiries before, during, and after the auction.
- Travel as needed to meet with clients and review the property for potential consignment.
- Actively participate in auctions.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- 5+ years experience in a major auction house preferred and/or as a commercial dealer focusing on American Art; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- The ideal candidate is a go-getter, outgoing, self-motivated, and professional.
- Must have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, ability to multitask, pay attention to detail, have a positive attitude, and good customer service skills.
