Job Description

With its premium portfolio in the car, truck, bus, two-wheel and specialty tire segment, Continental Tires Continental’s digital capabilities are growing every day. Our eCommerce, Fleet Solutions and Data Science Information Technology team creates a wide range of technology solutions for Continental’s Global Sales and Marketing teams – and we want you to join us!

Our team continuously works on the digitalization of our business-to-business processes and end consumer communication, using leading web technologies and a strong focus on data science and artificial intelligence. We run Continental’s global customer relationship management platform, which supports our Sales colleagues in their daily interaction with customers. 

The Data Science Intern will be responsible for the following:

  • Help develop a Proof of Concept for the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system at Continental Tire. The CRM system captures and stores sales accounts information and event logs related to those accounts. The event logs include large amounts of unstructured free text records. Customers and salespeople have better opportunities to add thoughts and comments by writing free text not constrained by pre-determined questions or choices. Natural language processing (NLP), the deciphering of text and data by machines, has revolutionized data analytics across all industries.
  • Help create prototypes to extract valuable insights and patterns from the unstructured data stored in the CRM system by using NLP’s techniques
  • Other responsibilities, as assigned

Qualifications

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Student currently enrolled in a US accredited degree program pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree
  • Able to work a minimum of 20+ hours per week during normal business hours (Mon-Fri)
  • Minimum junior standing or higher
  • Must have and maintain a 2.8 GPA or higher
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.)
  • Able to come onsite to our Fort Mill, SC Tire HQs 3 days/week (Mon-Fri)
  • Strong desire to work in a fast paced, multi-cultural team-oriented environment
  • Self-starter and a quick learner
  • Experience with Programming Languages (i.e. Python)
  • Exposure to development tools: Visual Studio Code, github
  • Familiar with platforms: LINUX, AWS (EC2 instances, S3 storage)
  • Basic concepts of Machine Learning
  • Knowledge of Natural Language Processing: sentiment analysis, name entity recognition, text classification, etc.
  • Basic Concepts of Deep learning: PyTorch, Transformers, BERT. Some experience with TensorFlow is a plus. 
  • Legal Authorization to work in the US is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas now or in the future for this job opening
