Job Description

Primary Responsibilities 

  • Responsible for performing quantity and quality inspection or verification of ships, barges and pipeline transfers of petroleum, petrochemical and chemical products in accordance with company standards, legal and client requirements.

Specific Responsibilities

Compliance

  • Operate to the highest standards of ethics in accordance with the SGS Statement of Integrity
  • Observance of standards such as: International Organization for Standardization (ISO), American Petroleum Institute (API), American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM)
  • Complies with the QHSE policies including but not limited to:
  • Demonstrates strong commitment to SGS QHSE Policies, Procedures, and Work Instructions by participating in safety meetings, completing required training, intervening in unsafe situations, refusing unsafe work, and complying fully with all applicable laws and regulations related to QHSE.
  • Responds appropriately to emergency situations and assists other staff members in maintaining readiness to respond to emergencies within the workplace.
  • In accordance with the SGS QHSE Management System requirements, disposes of, or directs the disposal of, waste generated as a part of daily work performed in a safe manner and in compliance with all waste transportation and disposal regulations and requirements.
  • Reports all incidents (actual incidents and near misses) in accordance with the SGS Incident Reporting requirements.
  • Uses all equipment (including safety equipment) in the manner intended and reports any damaged / lost equipment to supervisor.
  • Maintain a safe and tidy worksite.
  • Maintains awareness of hazards and proposes controls to supervisor, QHSE Representatives or relevant client / site contact.
  • Actively participates in incident investigations and risk assessments as deemed necessary by SGS management.

Job Execution

  • Ensures that instructions from immediate superior are understood and documented
  • Prepares necessary forms, materials, equipment and or other requirements related to the job before proceeding to the work site. Preparation includes making sure that equipment is suitable and adequate in terms of updated identification, calibration and verification.
  • Physically sample, measure and take the temperature of vessel’s tanks and shore tanks utilizing a variety of methods as per company, statutory or regulatory, client requirements and API (American Petroleum Institute) procedures
  • Calculates and reports quantities transferred and perform full reconciliation
  • Signs field reports based on inspection services carried out
  • Work in cooperation with client and or facility representative to ensure compliance to agreed specifications
  • Assists in other tasks such as dispatching, filing, sampling and product disposal

Field Reporting

  • Prepares and submits complete and accurate inspection reports including properly labelled
  • samples and making sure that all fields in the form are appropriately filled out for data integrity purposes.
  • Maintains regular communication with the business line team members with reference to job status and or updates

Training

  • Ensures to complete attendance on the stages of competency training such as
  • 1) induction period,
  • 2) supervised working period with experienced inspectors and
  • 3) continuation training period throughout employment to keep pace with the developing technology.
  • Coach or assists training members within the business line on inspection work and requirements

Qualifications

Must be currently in Guam

Education: Tertiary education from any Engineering courses (Preferred)

  • Experience: 1 year related experience, minimum (Preferred)
  • With basic math comprehension and aptitude
  • Computer literate (familiar with MS Windows applications)

Must posses Guam Driver's License.

Physical

  • Must be physically fit to be able to climb storage tanks, vessel gangways, ladders and stairs up to 65 feet high
  • Must be able to carry up to 75 pounds of samples, equipment or apparatus
  • Must be able to differentiate colors by mere visual observation

Position requires travel by air and sea

Additional Information

Preferably with Drivers license , Must have an authorization to work legally in the US/Guam (green card, Social Security, US resident, working visas)
