CMT is looking for a collaborative, diligent, and resourceful Engineering Technician who wants to join us in making roads safer by making drivers better!

Please note that the nature of this work requires that the position work from our Cambridge office each day, with remote work at the discretion of their manager. 

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the organization and stocking of IoT Lab - basic electronics and mechanical fabrication
  • Learn and publish all safety protocols needed for tools in the lab; create training for new team members as needed
  • (Kindly) enforce safety standards in the lab
  • Keep inventory of critical items and re-order as needed
  • Organize, keep track of, and purchase larger lab equipment as needed
  • Fulfill shipping and purchase requests for larger IoT team (all shipping and purchasing done through CMT accounts)
  • Support product builds through basic prototyping or rework - soldering, 3D printing and finishing, electronics assembly, manual machining and material manipulation, disassembly and reassembly
  • Fulfill 3D printing requests for remote team members
  • Complete any additional tasks as they arise

Qualifications:

  • Proven and/or relevant experience as an engineering technician
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required, with additional Technician/Electronics training preferred
  • Relevant 2-year degree or certificate program required (e.g. Electronics Technician Certificate, Associate Electronics Technician, Associate of Science in Electronic Engineering Technology
  • Experience with soldering and basic electronics fabrication
  • Experience with basic hand tools - screwdriver, dremel, pliers, blade, etc.
  • Ability to lift and carry 30 pounds
  • Current valid driver’s license and ability to travel up to 90 miles to vendors if needed
  • Basic chemical hygiene and safety knowledge
  • Experience with data organization and spreadsheets
  • Thoughtful attention to detail in work
  • Strong organizational skills for their own work and labspace
  • Comfortable interacting with many different people and groups in a day
  • Thorough communication skills to work with remote team members who need support

Nice to Have:

  • Ability to run command line tools
  • Experience with 3D printing
  • Experience with Google Workspace (Gmail, Google Drive, Docs, Sheets)
  • Experience with electronics debugging tools - multimeter, oscilloscope, power loads and supplies, etc.
