Scope

Support the EMEA Controller in maintaining strong Controllership processes, drive simplification, identify potential Controllership risks, and ensure sites are in compliance with IFRS and local Statutory reporting requirements for the supported countries. Assist regional finance & operating teams to improve/maintain controllership, accounting compliance and internal controls.

Required education and experience

  • Minimum BSc in Finance / Accounting
  • ACCA / or equivalent IFRS certification
  • 10+ years’ experience in General Accounting / Tax / Audit
  • Corporate audit or public accounting experience (Big4 experience is advantage)
  • Fluent in English
  • Strong knowledge of technical accounting and financial controlling
  • SAP experience 
  • Advanced Excel user - strong Excel skills in data compilation and aggregation 
  • Practice in Google applications is an advantage
  • Strong communication skills – able to develop good working relationships at all levels of the business
  • Challenges the status quo, proactively seeks opportunities to develop finance processes and procedures
  • Experience in stakeholder management
  • Experience in matrix organization

Tasks and responsibilities

  • Provide technical accounting/financial reporting advice and support. Consults with Global HQ Controllership / TAX where appropriate 
  • Control VAT preparation in EMEA region, approve VAT returns for filing
  • Review VAT master-data in SAP (tax codes etc) and submit data for adjustments. VAT coding of vendor invoices in accounts payable workflow
  • Review and approve of VAT account reconciliations for the whole range of VAT accounts, including reconciliation of VAT balances with the tax authorities
  • Perform reconciliations between the VAT + Intrastat / EU sale reports, perform reconciliation between e-invoicing, tax returns and SAP
  • Take part in upcoming VAT reporting related projects;
  • Interact with internal and external service provider’s VAT expert team in any technical questions;
  • Follow up with customer care / accounts payable team on erroneous account receivable /payable entries; coordinate VAT communication 
  • Control and ensure that VAT payments meet deadlines
  • Answer to any other VAT related queries;
  • Support VAT tax audit processes
