Scope

Support the EMEA Controller in maintaining strong Controllership processes, drive simplification, identify potential Controllership risks, and ensure sites are in compliance with IFRS and local Statutory reporting requirements for the supported countries. Assist regional finance & operating teams to improve/maintain controllership, accounting compliance and internal controls.

Required education and experience

  • Minimum BSc in Finance / Accounting
  • ACCA / or equivalent IFRS certification
  • 10+ years’ experience in General Accounting / Tax / Audit
  • Corporate audit or public accounting experience (Big4 experience is advantage)
  • Fluent in English
  • Strong knowledge of technical accounting and financial controlling
  • SAP experience 
  • Advanced Excel user - strong Excel skills in data compilation and aggregation 
  • Practice in Google applications is an advantage
  • Strong communication skills – able to develop good working relationships at all levels of the business
  • Challenges the status quo, proactively seeks opportunities to develop finance processes and procedures
  • Experience in stakeholder management
  • Experience in matrix organization

Tasks and responsibilities

  • Map the process of accounting for payroll in the supported countries. Understand which organizations and roles are involved (e.g. Human Resources; in country payroll service providers, global process teams -Payroll, Record to Report, Buy to Pay- in VWTS and external service providers). Creating and updating descriptions of organizations and processes. Creating and maintaining relationships with involved organizations.
  • Similar to the above, map the process of reconciling payroll Balance Sheet GL accounts in the supported countries. Creating and updating descriptions of organizations and processes. Creating and maintaining relationships with involved organizations.
  • Work with involved organizations to ensure that payroll is accounted for accurately in the supported countries.
  • Work with involved organizations to ensure that payroll Balance Sheet accounts are reconciled -including reconciliation of payroll tax balances with the tax authorities- in the supported countries.
  • Work with involved organizations to improve the process of payroll accounting and reconciliations (e.g. identifying issues with mapping payroll elements to GL accounts and having them resolved).
  • Supporting Legal Entity Controllers in analyzing payroll expenses on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis
  • Supporting Legal Entity Controllers in accounting for payroll in statutory financial statements: support Legal Entity Controllers in preparing and reviewing entries between SAP and statutory financial statements and mapping and disclosing payroll related information in statutory financial statements
  • Work with Payroll, Human Resources and Legal Entity Controllers to answer auditors’ requests related to payroll.
  • Ensure that documentation relevant for payroll accounting, reconciliations and analyses are collected stored, organized, and available to the Controllership Team.
  • Participate in process improvements related to payroll accounting (e.g. templates for reconciliations, analysis etc.)
  • Partner with FP&A teams to drive Legal Entity profitability, drive Transfer pricing initiatives
  • Work closely with commercial and operations leaders/teams to understand financial/accounting implications of transactions and other matters as required
