The Opportunity

We have a unique opportunity for a Solicitor to join our Corporate Energy & Resources team, to be based in Perth or Brisbane.

You will work with Jay Leary, Band 1 ranked Partner and Global Head of Mining for HSF, as well as other industry leading professionals. Jay is recognised globally as a leading lawyer in the mining industry. He is profiled in Chambers & Co (Tier 1), Best Lawyers (2009 to 2018), ILC Which Lawyer, Doyles’ Guide (in the pre-eminent category), IFLR, ALB, Who’s Who, and was rated by ILC as Australian energy and resources lawyer of the year in 2011, 2015 and 2017.

The team represents a broad spectrum of mining clients, from major Australian and international corporations to small local operations, with a predominant focus on critical minerals and clean energy.

In this role, you will undertake a range of work including private M&A, joint ventures, operating agreements, marketing agreements, royalty agreements and development projects.

You will benefit from exceptional learning opportunities working on first in the market deals and with clients, in Australia and internationally, who are at the forefront of the energy transition.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • demonstratable legal experience from a leading top or mid-tier, national or boutique specialist firm.
  • admission to practice in Australia or New Zealand.
  • an excellent academic record.
  • first-class attention to detail and a demonstrated ability to comprehend intricate legal matters a proactive approach and desire to be an integral member of our leading and supportive team; and
  • a hunger to learn and develop and be part of maintaining a market-leading mining practice.
