The ideal candidate should have strong background in quantitative methodologies and analysis, as well as software development to lead the design and implementation of a new quantitative library from the ground up. In addition, the candidate should be a dynamic and innovative thinker with extensive experience in quantitative finance and software architecture. This role is pivotal in setting the foundation for State Street’s endeavors to strengthen the company’s risk control function.

Key Responsibilities:

Design and Architectural Development:

  • Drive the design, development, and implementation of a robust and scalable quantitative library.
  • Create a modular architecture that allows for easy addition, modification, and scaling of quantitative models and tools.

Quantitative Method Integration:

  • Collaborate with quantitative analysts and researchers to incorporate the latest methodologies into the library.
  • Ensure that implemented models are computationally efficient, accurate, and maintainable.

Quality Assurance & Testing:

  • Design and oversee the implementation of comprehensive testing frameworks to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the library.
  • Regularly review and refactor code to maintain code quality and incorporate best practices.

Collaboration & Team Leadership:

  • Lead and mentor a team of software developers, ensuring a collaborative and productive environment.

Stay Updated:

  • Continuously monitor industry trends, technologies, and advancements in the realm of quantitative methods and Python development.
  • Drive innovation by recommending and integrating new tools and techniques to keep the library at the forefront of the industry.

Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in application development, at least 5 years in Python, with a proven track record in architecting and building scalable python applications in a Linux environment.
  • Familiarity with relevant Python libraries and tools for quantitative analysis (e.g., NumPy, pandas). And working knowledge of a compiled language like C/C++.
  • Strong grasp of computing fundamentals like data structures, algorithms, OS, and programming languages.
  • Experience in building and maintaining web services, and ideally experience contributing to open-source projects.
