Responsibilities

Baker Tilly, one of the fastest growing CPA advisory firms in the nation, has an incredible career opportunity for an Senior Tax Associate - Tax Accounting Methods to join our growing Tax Accounting Methods (TAM) practice in our Chicago office! 

The Tax Accounting Methods (TAM) practice assist clients with cash-tax planning and overall tax compliance strategies. Our practice analyzes the direct and indirect impacts of available revenue and expense recognition methodologies to determine the best methods for each clients' unique tax goals.

What you’ll do:

  • Assist with accounting methods reviews, including revenue and expense recognition, inventory accounting methods (Section 263A and LIFO), among others
  • Assist in implementing multiple projects simultaneously, which include computations, analysis, and data gathering
  • Assist with drafting technical memoranda and accounting method change requests (Form 3115)
  • Help provide technical guidance to tax professionals firm wide
  • Learn and grow from direct on the job coaching and mentoring along with participating in firm wide learning and development programs
  • Utilize your entrepreneurial skills to network and build strong relationships internally and externally with clients
  • Enjoy friendships, social activities and team outings that encourage a work-life balance

Qualifications

Successful candidates will have:

  • An undergraduate degree in Accounting required
  • Actively pursuing or completed CPA
  • Two (2) + year(s) experience providing corporate federal tax compliance and/or tax consulting services in a professional services firm
  • Experience performing tax research
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications including Excel
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • There is currently no immigration sponsorship available for this position
