About you and this role:

As a Senior Accounting Specialist, You will be responsible for providing quality cost accounting services to the Packaging and Specialty Plastics Business in EMEAI. The Cost Accountant ensures accounting activity is recorded within the Company’s records and the books are accurate and complete. Responsibilities include budgeting, product costing, recording, reporting, analyzing, and communicating functional/business activity results and trends.

Your role requires dedicated interaction with Business Finance along with the Operations Plant Leaders within the respective facilities and other various contacts within Supply Chain, TES, and M&E. A thorough understanding of Dows Cost flows, dedication to data quality, an aspiration for continuous improvement and a strong engagement with respective partners, are key elements of this role. You also need to step in for coaching and training of fellow members of the cost accounting team and will assume Subject Matter Expert responsibilities.

Responsibilities:

  • Records, monitors, reports, and communicates function/business results, and ensures activity is accurate, complete, and compliant to accounting standards and best practices
  • Completes product costing of materials, reviews for variances, and corrects/communicates results to business/plant management
  • Performs Stock Take Observations and/or assist the production facilities in performing the periodic Cycle Counting work processes
  • Manages key relationships with business finance, SME-networks and internal and external partners
  • Provides financial analysis to function/business management teams as needed for project studies, productivity/benchmarking measurements, and establishes and maintains an ongoing working relationship with other sub-processes and functions.
  • Assumes SME responsibilities and becomes the go-to person for other accountants
  • Coordinates and assists internal partners to complete annual budgets, in line with Corporate, Business and Functional guidelines and timing
  • Performs financial estimates (or support/provide input for financial estimates) for the supported Business
  • Ensures the highest degree of internal control compliance and Sarbanes-Oxley
  • Educates functional partners on Accounting Policies and internal control matters and advises on the potential impacts of their decisions. Resolves any problems identified as they arise
  • Provides audit support for annual internal/external Cost Accounting related audits
  • Has knowledge of US GAAP, local GAAP and accounting standards

Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting required
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience; experience in manufacturing cost is preferred
  • A Qualified CMA/CA with 10+ years of similar experience

Preferred Skills:

  • Proficiency with SAP, Power BI, Power Query and other automation tools
  • Proficiency with the MS Office Suite
  • Highly motivated with strong business interest and desire to act as a business partner
  • Team player with proactive communication style
  • Strong analytical and process improvement skills
  • Very strong verbal and written communication required.
