Job Description

What’s a career like at BAE Systems? Remarkable. The Senior Tax Analyst reports to the Director of Tax Compliance and works closely with the other tax department professionals. This position is responsible for the timely and accurate preparation and review of all federal and state income tax returns in compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Other responsibilities include preparation of estimated tax calculations, assistance with the income tax provision, responding to federal and state tax notices and coordination with the business units on various tax matters.

This is a hybrid work position at our headquarters in Falls Church, VA.

Responsibilities and essential functions of the role:

  • Review the annual tax return data collect workbooks submitted by the business units;
  • Act as primary tax department point of contact and tax resource for the business units;
  • Review the quarterly, half year, and year-end tax packages submitted by the business units to forecast tax liability and minimize cash out flow. Assist with consolidated tax forecasts;
  • Maintain detailed cumulative book/tax differences for the business units and assist with accounting for income taxes;
  • Prepare or review state income tax schedules for estimated payments and tax provision calculations;
  • Respond to federal and state tax notices and assist with federal and state tax examinations;
  • Assist with tax automation including review of potential tax compliance and provision software packages, data gathering processes, and allocation and apportionment processes;
  • Assist the team with the preparation of the monthly tax account reconciliation;
  • Assist the team on a monthly basis with ensuring new accounts are appropriately mapped within the tax data warehouse and ensuring the financial data agrees to the consolidated reporting system;
  • Assist the team on a monthly basis with the PE scoping process and analysis;
  • Review and ensure the federal and state excise tax returns are timely filed and estimated payments are timely paid;
  • Assist the team with research and writing and other tax technical related ad hoc projects as needed.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting from an accredited four-year college or university;
  • A minimum of 4 years of tax related experience;
  • Familiar with tax research tools such as CCH, RIA and BNA;
  • Familiarity with Thompson Reuters OneSource Tax Software;
  • Experience with corporate (Subchapter C) tax matters;
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel;
  • Strong oral and written communication skills;
  • Travel less than 5%.

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

  • International tax knowledge and experience;
  • Tax reporting and or data analytics software experience;
  • CPA Licensure;
  • Experience working on projects for complex organizations.

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $78760 - $133870

Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
