Ore Control Geologist 1 – Leeville Underground

As part of the MRM team, the successful candidate will be results centric adding to our already ambitious yet exciting working environment supporting our mining operations. The ideal candidate will possess a background using Acquire and Leapfrog mining software.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for ore/waste routing 
  • Ability to map in an underground environment utilizing digital mapping software.
  • Daily data entry and tracking of production samples for accurate ore/waste routing
  • Support diamond and RC drilling activities through drill rig and drill station inspections, validating total depth of holes, surveys, collars, etc. 
  • Geological and geotechnical logging of diamond core and reverse circulation drilling
  • Compile and interpret mapping and assay information in 3-D software and correlate it with existing models
  • Supervise sample collection for accuracy and consistency with timely delivery to lab
  • Prepare weekly reports as required; assist with weekly and monthly reconciliation for model performance and impacts to grade
  • Other tasks as outlined by supervisor to ensure safe performance within the mine.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Geology or related field required
  • Commitment to safety for self and others as well as embracing environmentally friendly work practices required
  • Ability to work within a team environment and possess excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills required
  • Strong computer skills including experience with Powerpoint, Word and Excel required. Familiarity with Deswik, Leapfrog, and Acquire software preferred
  • Previous mining experience preferred
  • Familiarity with logging diamond core and RC chips preferred
  • Able to collect and carry samples up to 20lbs
  • Able to drive/learn to drive standard transmission vehicles.

Ability to work in adverse conditions
