Scopely is looking for a Technical Artist to join an unannounced project within our MAX gaming Division, working from one of our North America based studios, or remotely within the US.

We are in the development stages of one of our new unannounced projects, and are looking for passionate game makers to collaborate, get in early and make their mark on this exciting venture!

What You Will Do

  • Developing and Managing Asset Pipelines: Build and maintain efficient pipelines for both 3D and 2D assets, ensuring a magnificent workflow from concept to game integration
  • Shader Development and Optimization: Write and maintain shaders for various asset types, optimizing performance while maintaining high visual quality
  • Technical Mentorship: Work closely with artists and programmers to address sophisticated technical issues related to game art
  • Performance Optimization: Track and optimize game performance, focusing on asset optimization, rendering, and memory usage, ensuring smooth gameplay across a variety of mobile devices
  • Tool Development: Design, implement, and refine custom tools within Unity to improve the efficiency and quality of the art creation and integration process
  • Researching and applying new technologies and techniques to improve game development efficiency and output
  • Collaboration and Support: Provide ongoing support and training to the art team, empowering their use of tools and techniques

What We’re Looking For

  • Foundation in Art and Technology: Balanced abilities with a good understanding of game art principles and technical constraints related to mobile game development
  • Proficiency in Unity and C#: Deep knowledge of Unity's engine and scripting in C# to develop tools and improve workflows
  • Experience with Art Tools: Hands-on experience with industry-standard art tools such as Maya, Blender, Photoshop, and Substance Suite
  • You should possess an extensive knowledge of 3D modeling, rigging, and the pipeline processes involved in asset creation
  • Shader Writing Skills: Ability to write efficient and visually appealing shaders using HLSL/GLSL or Unity’s Shader Graph
  • Performance Optimization Experience: Skilled in optimizing mobile games, understanding of rendering pipelines and asset optimization techniques
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, capable of addressing challenges creatively and efficiently
  • Collaborative Spirit: Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work across different teams

Bonus Points

  • Scripting and Automation: Experience in scripting languages such as Python for automating workflows and processes
  • Character Customization Systems: Experience in crafting and implementing character customization solutions, enabling dynamic character appearances
  • Wide Device Support: Experience in developing and optimizing assets and code for multiple mobile platforms to ensure consistent performance and quality
  • Particle System and Visual Effects (VFX) Optimization: Expertise in optimizing particle systems and VFX for mobile platforms, improving visual appeal while maintaining performance
  • Universal Render Pipeline Experience: Experience with Unity's URP, including customizing and optimizing for mobile games

For candidates in CA, CO, NJ, NY and WA, the annual salary range is $91,000-$140,000, plus equity, bonus and benefits including healthcare benefits, retirement benefits, pet insurance, paid holidays, paid Scopely free days, and unlimited paid time-off. Base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
