Strategy Program Manager

Job Description:

Our business is continuously growing and expanding, and we are looking for a Strategy Programme Manager to support our company towards delivering value creation and execution excellence.

The SPM candidate will be responsible for the continuous review, improvement and implementation of the Business Strategy, ensuring that defined business projects meet organisation’s ambition and required new projects are added to the programme. The SPM will also work with department leaders to provide recommendations to prioritise work and the company resources to ensure that the critical projects are carried forward and to identify and manage critical interdependencies across projects, de-bottlenecking execution and ensuring the programme executes on the business strategy on a thorough and comprehensive basis and adhering to budget. The SPM will oversee and lead the reporting of the execution plan at different levels, including ExCo and Board of Directors. The candidate will work closely with senior team members across all areas of the organisation and will manage a team of 2+ colleagues.

Key responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with department leads and team members to define, prioritise, develop, and execute projects to deliver on the company’s business strategy
  • Lead the planning - with each project manager, and supported by the PM team - targets, deliverables and deadlines, verifying that team members are assigned to different activities, monitoring budget and delivery risks
  • Build a 360º understanding of the business strategy through the defined programme to challenge existing scope, content and timing
  • Support the continuous review of our strategy and business direction, by bringing a strategic and constructive challenge and propose adjustments or additions as needed to maximise the value creation and risk mitigation for the combined organisation
  • Identify interdependencies, bottlenecks and risks across projects, recommend, define and implement the necessary actions and mitigation strategies
  • Develop and implement a project prioritisation methodology to ensure an effective and efficient use of internal and external resources and generate a focused execution approach
  • Ensure the existing portfolio of initiatives is mutually exclusive, collectively exhaustive and optimised for a value creating delivery of the business strategy
  • Define and agree with area leads on the key KPI to track the progress of the execution of the business strategy across all areas of the organisation; propose and implement dashboards to facilitate and ensure proper communication to the overall organisation and different committees and stakeholders
  • Own and deliver reporting on the progress and status of the Strategy Programme to different stakeholders, including the quarterly reporting to top management and Board of Directors on progress execution, action plan, resource allocation, KPIs advancement, and associated risks
  • Accurately document the creation, development, and execution, including the project's activities, scope, budget, business rationale, value, timings and other key KPI
  • Improve existing Programme Management policies and processes, as well as project management standardization across the entire organization
  • Continuously evaluate projects to ensure they are meeting company standards, adhering to budgets, and meeting deadlines

Organisational structure:

  • The position reports to the Head of Strategy and Programme Management
  • The candidate will manage a team of analysts to support in the key responsibilities listed above

Key requirements:

  • 7+ years of experience in the renewable energy industry, specifically on strategy, planning or execution functions
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent organisation and planning skills
  • Ability to manage senior stakeholders in an independent, proactive, and cooperative way
  • Strategic thinking, including ability to understand the big picture
  • Action oriented mindset, with a focus on the ‘so what’ of the analysis
  • Financial savviness
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Problem solving and flexible mindset
  • Proficiency in English
  • Economics or Engineering background
