The Southern Environmental Law Center is seeking a Development Project Intern in our Charlottesville, VA office. This individual will join our Development Operations team and report to our Prospect Researcher. This Intern will primarily conduct prospect research and integrate that data into our systems, in concert with the Development Operations team. This is an excellent opportunity to join a highly successful, nationally recognized organization that is effectively addressing some of the most pressing and challenging environmental issues throughout the South and the nation. 

This is a part-time, non-exempt internship. Employment is contingent on successful completion of a criminal background check. 

Primary Responsibilities: 

  • Conduct prospect research and integrate data gathered from various public sources into MS Excel. 
  • Review and update information in CRM system (Salesforce). 
  • Partner with other Development Operations team members to ensure data integrity. 
  • Handle confidential information with sensitivity, integrity, and accuracy. 

Required Qualifications: 

  • Skilled with and enjoyment of research, with an innate sense of curiosity. 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs, particularly Excel. 
  • Experience or interest in fundraising and non-profit operations. 
  • Experience or interest in environmental advocacy. 
  • Collaborative and team-oriented approach to work, but with the ability to work effectively independently. 
  • Strong organizational skills and excellent attention to detail. 
  • A genuine interest in and commitment to helping SELC create and foster a more diverse, inclusive, and equitable workplace. You engage in ongoing personal learning and are eager to contribute to our organizational efforts in this area.

Internship Information: 

  • Duration: 3-6 months 
  • Hours: Up to 30 hours per week 
  • Timeframe: Summer-Fall 2024 (Can be worked during Summer and during Fall semester. Hours per week can be modified to fit around class schedules.)
  • Compensation: $15.00-$17.00/hour 
  • Location: 120 Garrett Street, Suite 400, Charlottesville, VA 22902
