This National Guard position is for a FUEL DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM WORKER, Position Description Number D2712000 and is part of the DE Army Aviation Support Facility, National Guard.

1. Receives, stores, transfers, and distributes bulk petroleum products for use at the GTC. Reviews documents from incoming shipments for proper identification of fuel and ensures the proper seals, safety regulations, and environment control systems are in place for identified cargo. Connects grounding wire and hoses and activates pumps, valves, and gages during pumping operation. Takes temperature reading, determine American Petroleum Institute (API) gravity, and converts volumes of fuel at standard temperature. Ensures gage, scale, and/or meter readings, amounts of fuel received and issued, and maintains fuel invoices for any product distributed or received. Reports any deficiencies in shipments to the supervisor.
2. Draws fuel samples for testing. Submits packaged lubricant samples for laboratory analysis on a regular basis. Mixes or directs the mixing of fuels to increase flashpoint or purity level based on scientific results. Performs additional test for laboratory analysis to assess operating conditions such as filter condition.
3. Performs preventative maintenance checks and services on the fuel distribution system, including lubricating pump bearings, changing strainer filters, and adding anti-algae and other additives to fuels, and obtaining and scheduling required system maintenance tests or repairs. Performs daily visual inspections of fuel facilities to inspect for leaks in storage tanks, surplus fuels, and pollution or fire concerns. Check for proper lighting, fence, and locking systems on a regular basis, as required by Defense Logistics Agency-Energy (DLA-E). Conducts daily clean-up of storage sites, equipment, and tools. May be appointed as the Responsible Officer per DLA requirements.
4. Assists in the accounting of fuel received, stored, and distributed and inventory of fuel stored within the facility. May assistance in the analysis of prior fuel consumption records from visiting units to prepare forecast fuel requirements and budget estimations for upcoming fiscal year.

Compatible Military Assignments: Must meet rank requirement and be eligible for military membership within the Delaware Army National Guard by the closing date of this advertisement.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have 12 Months of experience or training providing knowledge of the equipment (e.g., tanks, manifolds, valves, filter/separators, pumps, etc.) and procedures for constructing bladder tank farms sufficient to provide technical guidance to and inspect the work of others. Knowledge of fuels, fuel distribution, regulations, and procedures, and the operation of fuel distribution systems sufficient to perform a variety of functions associated with the operation of a system, including general maintenance. Ability to apply knowledge of more complex steps and processes to convert fuel measurements from volume received at tank temperature to the equivalent volume at the standard temperature set by the American Petroleum Institute.
Quality of Experience: - Length of time is not of itself qualifying. Candidates' experience should be evaluated on the basis of duties performed rather than strictly on the rank of the individual; however, established compatibility criteria/assignments must be followed. The applicant's record of experience and/or training must show possession of the knowledge, skills and abilities needed to fully perform the duties of the position.
