The Opportunity

This position works out of our Johannesburg location in the Abbott Transfusion Division. In this division we’re empowering smarter medical and economic decision making to help transform the way people manage their health at all stages of life. Every day, more than 10 million tests are run on Abbott’s diagnostics instruments, providing lab results for millions of people.

Our diagnostic solutions are used in hospitals, laboratories and clinics around the globe. The crucial information derived from our tests, instruments and informatics systems are often the first step in patient care decision making for hundreds of health conditions from heart attacks to blood disorders to infectious diseases and cancers.

The role of service engineer intern will provide technical in-depth troubleshooting, expertise & service support to Technical Support Specialists, FSEs & Service Support Contractors/Distributors for problems associated with analyzer, operator, application and reagent complaints.

What You’ll Do

  • Perform system installation, repairs and servicing at customer sites.
  • Implements major product upgrades relative to the assigned system/product group.
  • Collaborates with Sales department to assist with basic troubleshooting training of Customers.
  • Provide service support and technical troubleshooting for defined service interventions.
  • Provide proactive service.

Required Qualifications

  • University degree (National Diploma), ideally in one of the following fields: Electrical Engineering, Clinical Engineering, Mechatronics, Medical Technology, biomedical or related. (THIS MUST BE COMPLETED).
  • VALID DRIVERS LICENCE is essential as you will be required to travel.

Preferred Qualifications

  • No Work experience (however previous in-service training will be accepted)
  • Must live in Johannesburg and can travel to office.
  • Available to start immediately.
