Responsibilities

The Activity Assistant is an unlicensed assistive person who reports to the Activity Coordinator, with direction from the Registered Nurse. This position coordinates and provides recreational and activity programs for the long term care unit.

Qualifications

Education and Work Experience

1. High School Diploma or Equivalent or one year related experience required for new hires, effective April 2014.
2. Current Certified Nursing Assistant certificate, or experience as an Occupational Therapist Assistant or Recreation Therapist.
3. Minimum one year previous experience in an acute care hospital or a social or recreational program within a healthcare setting required.
4. Six months recent experience as an Activity Assistant in a Subacute setting preferred.
5. Current BLS (AHA) upon hire and maintain current.
