Position Summary:

The Developer, Procurement Excellence Qlik Sense and Databases will report into the HARMAN Procurement Excellence (ProX) organization and will be responsible for developing a data infrastructure and analytics capabilities in support of HARMAN’s procurement intiatives. The Procurement Excellence (ProX) team is responsible for driving a strong results at HARMAN through the development and delivery of best in class working methods, tools, systems and analytics. Working in partnership with Engineering, Manufacturing and Procurement teams, the ProX team will deliver the target cost models and data necessary to drive HARMAN to a leadership position.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop, update and maintain databases composed of internal and external data sources to support HARMAN’s cost modeling and cost analytics efforts. Build the necessary ETL (Extract, Transform Load) scripts to optimally extract and transform the data for defined use cases.
  • Collaborate with groups inside and outside of the ProX team to define, design and develop complex, production-level data models, reports, standards, and processes that enable and ensure robust, reliable, up to date systems, data and reporting that is highly scalable and reliable
  • Assist in the design and definition of data structures, core datasets and interoperability for the entire Automotive organization working with teams inside and outside of the ProX team to ensure that data is reliable, robust and scalable in a production environment
  • Develop the capabilities necessary to automate regular (daily, weekly, monthly, etc.) generation of cost reporting, including the generation of monthly Key Performance Indicator (KPI) dashboards.
  • Contribute to the definition and enhancement of the ProX data systems to improve the capability and working efficiency of the team.
  • Identify, define and establish best practices and systems for data integrity, data integration, DB development best-practices, architecture and systems
  • Deliver training to ProX team members on data infrastructure and analytics tools.
  • Collaborate with IT to ensure that data infrastructure reliably supports the needs of a global organization.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, data analytics statistics, information systems or engineering.
  • Working knowledge of database technologies, including SQL.
  • Experience (Academic or professional) in designing and maintaining relational databases on a cloud-based server (AWS, Azure, Google, etc.).
  • Results oriented with highly analytical approach to problem solving. 
  • Strong process orientation with an ability to develop and document new processes.
  • Time management skills with demonstrated ability to plan and execute projects on a committed timeline.
  • Ability to work in cross-functional environment. Must be able to comfortably interface into a variety of functions including IT, Procurement, Engineering and Manufacturing.
  • Team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills who can effectively work with all levels of a global matrixed organization.
  • Ability to adapt to changing demands and conditions.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in a fast paced, highly measured, results focused environment.
  • Experience (academic or professional) with both structured and unstructured datasets.
  • Experience (academic or professional) manipulating, processing and extracting value from large, disconnected datasets (10m+ records, multi-dimension, multi-measure, multi-sourced data).
  • Front end webpage or UI experience (academic or professional) incorporating data visualizations
  • Experience (academic or professional) in software design and development in BI systems or Database design/development using SQL or similar languages
  • Experience (academic or professional) in Machine Learning, predictive analysis or AI
  • Statistical analysis (regression, correlation, T-test, Monte-carlo, etc.) experience (academic or professional)
  • Experience (academic or professional) with scripting languages such as Python or VBA.
  • Experience (academic or professional) in Embedded or C development.

Eligibility Requirements: List specific location of position and % of willingness to travel.

  • Willingness to travel 5% of the time.
  • Willingness to work at a Harman facility in Novi, MI or Budapest, Hungary.
