Manages sales directly to end-users of the organization’s products or services in a large specified geographic area, or is responsible for a specific industry or product segment on a national or geographic basis. Position must have full access to VMS client sites to perform the essential functions of this position. Many VMS clients require VMS employees and representatives to meet certain “Vendor Credentialing” requirements before they will be allowed to have access to their sites. Unless prohibited by law, position must meet all Vendor Credentialing requirements necessary to have full client access, and must continue to meet those requirements during the course of VMS employment in this position. Performs all required management responsibilities including but not limited to: implementing the company's policies, programs, and guidelines; ensuring employee productivity and growth; managing resources; knowing Varian's business; and maintaining functional, technical, and external market awareness necessary for managing immediate organization. Assists in managing human and financial resources, in accordance with budgetary and strategic requirements, for an assigned geographic area with the objective of achieving sales revenue, product mix and profitability targets. Provides assistance to ensure accountability of regional performance, including: development of business strategy linked to company objectives; development and effective execution of sales strategies; staffing, direction, coaching, motivation and development of all field sales personnel; achieving and maintaining a superior level of customer satisfaction. Ensures expense control and maintains margin requirements. Ensures strict adherence to all company policies and procedures. Ensures timely and effective execution of all administrative assignments, including expense reporting, sales activity reporting, sales forecasting, competitive activity reporting and ongoing communication of customer/market needs. Represents and ensures subordinate representation of Varian ethics, values and business practices with all internal and external constituents. Ensures staffing and development; Achieves sales and profitability targets; Executes sales strategies/programs; Ensures customer satisfaction; Ensures effective execution of Varian sales processes;; Exemplifies Varian professionalism; Operates and achieves expected results within all VMS policies/procedures and influences others to do so. Minimum Required Skills and Knowledge: Ability, competence, and confidence to lead people. Effective interpersonal skills. Other Desired Skills and Knowledge: Required Certifications and Training: Obtains and completes LMS training plan specific to assigned responsibility. Meets all Vendor Credentialing requirements necessary to gain VMS client site access, unless prohibited by law. These requirements vary by client and may include, but are not limited to: Proof of valid identification (photo, driver’s license, SSN), Criminal background checks, Drug screens, Immunizations (Hep B, MMR, Varicella, Influenza, Tetanus), Annual TB testing, , Healthcare trainings Experience Level with Business Tools: Proficient in utilizing business tools such as: E-mail, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Experience with HCM (e.g., Workday) or equivalent ERP product and productivity software desired. Typical Education and Experience: Bachelors Degree or equivalent 3 years of related experience Typically no prior management experience
