Job Description

Essential Job functions:

  • Leads department in strategic plan for a comprehensive insurance program that is best-in-class overseeing the complete insurance program including recommendations and strategic decision-making on the consolidation of programs for newly acquired organizations.
  • Lead and manage the internal insurance team and manage internal clients with gathering information for initial and renewal applications
  • Manage insurance broker relationships, along with captive managers and wealth advisors
  • Manage captive and RRG insurance programs, ensuring appropriate reserving, funding, and adherence to investment policies and related regulations
  • Oversees proposals and applications in coordination with producers; submits applications to eligible and appropriate carriers; obtains client signatures on all applications; follows up to ensure timely receipt of quotations and policies.
  • Oversees requests for binders, certificates, policies, endorsements, and other related items; verifies their accuracy
  • Management and oversight of enrollment of professional liability coverage as part of the credentialing and re-credentialing process by obtaining claim loss histories from prior carriers.
  • Oversight of the reconciliation and binding tail coverage, as applicable, process for new, existing, and retiring providers.
  • Manage and mentor the Manager of Enterprise Insurance and two (2) Insurance Coordinators
  • Prepares summaries of insurance, schedules, and proposals as needed
  • Performs periodic audits of policies and verifies accuracy and facilitates corrections.
  • Maintains and updates files in matter management system
  • Verifies policy and change information, facilitating corrections when necessary
  • Oversees incoming email and mail requests, responding promptly and appropriately.
  • Coordination of invoices and submission of all payments on all lines of insurance coverage
  • Oversight of reconciliation of quarterly invoices, identifying discrepancies, and problem-solving issues. Verifies the accuracy of all insurance invoices and takes appropriate corrective action when needed.
  • Coordinates with Legal Department on analysis of insurance coverage for claims brought against providers and employees of the organization and submission of new losses to agent/broker and appropriate insurance provider.
  • Partner with real estate and legal teams on Landlord/insurance-related matters and lease/insurance provisions and matters. Oversee the COI process as it relates to leases.
  • Partners with Procurement and Legal teams on review of insurance clauses, as well as review and approval of certificates of insurance provided by vendors associated with new and renewed relationships.

General Job functions:

  • Maintains insurance files and up-to-date schedules for all lines of coverage and all entities.
  • Oversight of the management of the complete insurance program.
  • Engages in departmental meetings to deliver education on trends in insurance.
  • Collaborates with internal and cross-functional teams to improve and develop practices, operations, programs, and services by providing subject matter expertise.
  • Ensures confidentiality of all information at all times
  • Light travel may be required for this role

Education, Certification, Computer and Training Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • Five to Seven years of experience in insurance, with a focus in health care insurance experience preferred.
  • An insurance adjuster’s license may be required for specific states.
  • Knowledge of medical and insurance terminology is required.
  • Excellent assessment, communication, organization and teaching skills.
  • Ability to communicate in English, both orally and in writing
  • Ability to perform duties with time limitations with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Standard Office Equipment (Phone, Fax, Copy Machine, Scanner, Email/Voice Mail) and Office Technology in a Windows-based environment.

For Colorado Residents only: The base compensation range for this role is $170,000 to $220,000. At VillageMD, compensation is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, location, etc. This role may be eligible for annual/quarterly bonus incentives (if applicable), and the selected candidate will be eligible for a valuable company benefits plan, including health insurance, dental insurance, life insurance, and access to a 401k plan with company match.
