About the Position

As a Temporary Signature Verification Clerk or Temporary Flagging Clerk, you would assist in facilitating the election process. This would either be through performing data entry, researching, verifying signatures, and contacting voters.

Please see the Essential Job Tasks section below as there are two positions for this recruitment. All listed positions are temporary assignments with Maricopa County before, during, and after the election cycle. The placement and assignment of each temporary election worker are based on facilitation needs and the applicant’s abilities.

NOTE: This recruitment will be used to fill multiple temporary positions.

We Require

This position requires a High School Diploma or GED.

Successful candidates must be registered or eligible to register to vote in Arizona by the time of hire. We require successful completion of a thorough background screening. You must be able to work irregular hours and shifts based on departmental needs, and you must have a valid Arizona driver’s license by the time of hire.

Job Contributions

Signature Verification Clerk

  • Utilizes Elections software to verify and compare voter signatures on affidavit envelopes with records
  • Analyzes signatures and perform other research, such as contacting voters directly to ensure the efficacy of mail-in ballot processing

Flagging Clerk

  • Conducts research, add or remove voter’s information from the Active Early Voting List, and flags voters for ballots
  • Data entry of voter information utilizing Elections software

Working Conditions

  • Full-time/Temporary/Overtime hours is mandatory during the election cycle
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods
  • Upper extremity repetitive motion
  • Ability to review small font on hard copy or computer screen
  • Ability to view a computer screen for an extended period
  • Ability to lift floor-to-shoulder and shoulder-to-waist a minimum of 25 pounds and carry for 100 feet
  • Ability to push/pull a minimum of up to 10 pounds for 200 feet
