Organizational Role

The sales engineer works with customers throughout the sales process from the initial step of determining their needs to the follow-up after product installation. The sales engineer also develops and educates new customers about CTES products.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify potential customers and successfully close on these sales.
  • Provide quarterly and annual sales forecasts.
  • Develop sales plans and strategies to increase sales to new and existing customers.
  • Monitor industry trends for both customers and competitors; perform market research for potential new product offerings.
  • Determine customer needs.
  • Prepare quotes and orders.
  • Work with engineering and manufacturing teams to develop customized products that meet client specifications.
  • Track orders throughout the product manufacturing and installation process.
  • Resolve customer problems and follow-up with customers after product installation to ensure they receive high-quality service.
  • Determine customer training needs.
  • Present technical information and/or technical product training courses to diverse audiences.
  • Assist with the development of marketing materials and strategies for sales campaigns.
  • Represent NOV at relevant industry trade shows.
  • Comply with all NOV Company HSE policies and procedures.

Qualifications

  • College degree preferred or 5 + years of technical sales experience.
  • Demonstrated achievements in outside sales or leadership within a specific E&P technical discipline related to the good intervention.
  • Ability to present and explain technical information to diverse audiences.
  • 5+ years selling software in the petroleum industry.
  • High energy, self-starter with multi-tasking abilities, organized, detail-oriented.
  • Good negotiating and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work within a team environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Skilled with the use of Microsoft Office software suite.
  • Ability to understand technical requirements from customers.
  • Ability to present and explain technical information to diverse audiences.
  • Ability to author or co-author technical papers.
  • Ability to train the customer on operation of advanced software and hardware products.
  • Travel to Latin America on semi-regular basis
