IMG Studios is a premier production centre with state-of-the art studios, post-production and live operations facilities. It houses 4 HD broadcast television studios, 10 production galleries, 3 dubbing suites, 50 edit destinations, 3 radio studios, an award-winning 3D Graphics & Visual Effects team, and one of the largest data centres built specifically for digital media and broadcast in recent times. The Master Control Room includes 5 transmission suites and monitors over 700 HD lines in & out of the building. With its own satellite farm and direct links to many of the leading sports stadia in the UK, IMG Studios is at the centre of sports and entertainment production and distribution.

What You’ll Do:

Reporting to the Lead Engineer, the Trainee Engineer will be tasked with assisting the engineering team to provide high levels of service, including the resolution of problems and the continuing development of IMG Studios’ facilities.

Key Responsibilities Include But Not Limited To:

  • Be able to maintain and repair equipment as directed by a supervisor
  • Be willing to learn and develop in an engineering role, including attending training sessions on and off site
  • Be able to escalate problems effectively, and ensure clear communication to all stakeholders
  • Have a good technical understanding of all broadcast equipment owned and used by IMG Studios
  • Have a good understanding of the capabilities and limitations of the technical systems available at IMG Studios
  • When necessary, undertake the engineering departments admin, including but not exclusive to; generating vendor PO’s, maintaining the company asset register, shipping and returns and the ticketing system
  • Comply with all relevant Health and Safety rules and guidelines
  • Be able to advise on the best solutions for the technical issues facing IMG Studios’ clients
  • Help ensure the engineering section within our Wiki is organised and provides effective solutions as required
  • Organise own workload effectively and maintain records as required
  • You may be required to perform other duties within the scope of the job

  • Keenness to learn about equipment and the way it is used within IMG Studios
  • Understand IT architecture
  • Good understanding of broadcast technology principles and production techniques
  • Good understanding of Microsoft Office Applications
  • Enjoy working as a member of a team player
  • Self-motivated

Please Note:

  • It is anticipated that this will be a shift position working 7 x 12 hour days per fortnight: (Week 1: Tuesday, Wednesday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday, Week 2: Thursday, Friday)
  • Working at weekends as required to fulfil job responsibilities.
