Attorney General Andrea Joy Campbell is looking for a highly motivated, creative attorney to serve in the Attorney General’s Elder Justice Unit (EJU), which is part of the Health Care & Fair Competition Bureau. This new and innovative Unit is committed to ensuring that aging residents can live with dignity and remain engaged in their communities free from abuse, neglect, and exploitation. EJU will pursue this mission through a combination of strategic investigations and enforcement actions, policy development, and community education and prevention.
Primary Duties: The Assistant Attorney General will help to build the EJU, which will include: (1) pursuing strategic investigations and enforcement work to protect the elderly in Massachusetts, (2) developing policy proposals and/or guidance designed to protect and advance elder justice in Massachusetts; (3) implementing community education and prevention programs for elders across the state, particularly on topics related to abuse, fraud, discrimination, and neglect; (4) participating in public speaking and community engagement opportunities related to elder justice in order to enhance the profile of the AGO’s work; (5) serving as a subject matter expert and/or supporting on any litigation or other matter involving elder justice in which our office may become involved; and (6) building bridges with subject-matter experts, providers, community advocates, and others.
Position Type: Full-Time/Exempt
Salary: $78,586 to $117,879, based on JD year and experience

Position Requirements: We are seeking a creative, self-motivated individual who is results-oriented, mission-driven, and committed to ensuring, protecting, and advancing elder justice. Must be a member of or pending admission to the Massachusetts bar. Applicants must have at least five years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, legal experience, preferably in elder justice, healthcare, and/or consumer protection. Litigation, enforcement, and policy experience is preferred. Experience working with diverse stakeholders is also preferred. In addition, candidates must have strong legal and non-legal research and writing skills; strong oral communication and advocacy skills adaptable for many audiences; and strong organizational and interpersonal skills. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a connection to the people and communities we serve and an interest in supporting a respectful, diverse, equitable, and inclusive work environment.
