Job Summary:

The industrial engineer applies engineering principles and techniques to evaluate current manufacturing practices, identify those requiring improvements and identifies processes that can be transitioned to automation or alternate technologies to support the organization to achieve production targets and business strategies. Leads, coaches and serves as a mentor to team in their day-to-day improvement activities through the deployment of the Lean Six Sigma methodology.

Essential Functions & Accountabilities:

Accountable for:

  1. Develops optimization roadmap to foster a culture of innovation and Continuous Improvement. 
  2. Examines, recommends, and develops process improvements and technological upgrades. 
  3. Recommend revisions to existing methods of operation, material handling, equipment layout, or other changes to increase production or improve standards.
  4. Standardizes and strengthens the technical focus and approach for troubleshooting and problem resolution.
  5. Identify areas, processes and/or products where significant changes or improvements are required (Identify Gaps Plant wide).
  6. In coordination with EHS best practices, ensures that ergonomic design to achieve maximum safety standards while supporting production goals. 
  7. Evaluate resources, employees and technologies identifying procedures or tools to improve productivity.
  8. Use methodological and project management approach on all projects to keep track of progress and report accordingly.
  9. Manage and define the best project management tools to support effective project delivery. 
  10. Provide support to Business and Manufacturing operations on increasingly complex projects that require a deeper understanding on technical area and/or use of advanced statistical tools.
  11. Support the growth of the organization on process and product flow analysis and capacity planning for new and existing processes and technologies.
  12. Develops and executes the Project Design and Master Planning for Automation projects and processes.
  13. Reviews trends analysis and ROI on automation projects. 
  14. Stays abreast of latest techniques, trends, and technologies to maximize production schedules, reduce waste and ensure product quality. 
  15. Analyzes and recommends changes to schedules, resources, plant layouts and technologies to ensure maximum yield and capacity are achieved. 
  16. Ensures accurate and timely projects documentation.
  17. Provides Lean Six Sigma Training and Certifications.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of CGMP (QSR), automation and controls, validations, design control and SOP’s
  • Ability to work across different teams and influence key stakeholders to achieve results 
  • Lean Manufacturing knowledge
  • Lean and/or Six Sigma projects exposure
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in both English and Spanish
  • Project Management tools proficiency
  • Computer literate
  • Willing to travel
  • Excellent people skills
  • Highly motivated, self-starter, and responsible person)

Experience:

  • Five to ten years of experience with similar responsibilities in a regulated industry (medical devices/pharmaceutical highly desirable)
  • Lean Champion and/or Six Sigma Training and Certification preferred
  • Must have prior experiences supporting automation processes

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Industrial, Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical and/or Computer)
