To facilitate this pivotal transition, we are seeking a talented and experienced Strategy & Management Director who will play a critical role in shaping our future narrative and drive cultural change.

Role Overview:

Reporting to the SVP, Enterprise Innovation, and Integration (EI&I), the Director for MITRE's Corporate Strategy and Management plays a crucial role in shaping the organization's strategic direction and ensuring its effective execution. This individual will drive and implement MITRE’s strategic plans, in alignment with the enterprise’s overall goals and objectives. They will conduct comprehensive research and analysis to inform strategic decisions, including market trends, competitor strategies, and other relevant data. They will also collaborate with various officers, leaders, and stakeholders to ensure alignment and coherence in strategy execution.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Developing and implementing the company's strategic plans. This involves analyzing the company's current strategy, identifying areas for improvement, creating new strategies to help the company achieve its goals and determining the methodology to deploy the strategy enterprise wide.
  • Drive the enterprise strategy forward by proactively identifying opportunities for growth and innovation, and effectively communicating these strategies to the executive leadership team for implementation.
  • Continually assessing and refining the company’s strategic direction, ensuring adaptability in a dynamic business environment, and maintaining alignment with industry trends and market shifts.
  • Generate insights by using data, research, and analysis to inform the company's strategic decisions. This may involve analyzing market trends, competitor strategies, and other relevant information sources.
  • Collaborating with other departments and stakeholders to ensure that the company's strategy aligns with its overall goals and objectives. This may involve working with the finance department to set budgets, or with the marketing department to develop branding strategies.
  • Continuously evaluating and improving the company's strategy. This involves monitoring the effectiveness of the strategy, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing changes as necessary.
  • Overseeing and managing strategic projects and initiatives.
  • Report on the progress of MITRE’s strategy to senior management and other stakeholders. This involves presenting data and analysis in a clear and concise manner.
  • Managing relationships with key stakeholders, including clients, partners, and employees.
  • Championing risk management efforts by identifying potential threats to the strategic plans to ensure business continuity.
  • Developing risk mitigation strategies and ensuring that the company is prepared to respond to potential challenges.
  • Ensuring all strategies and operations follow laws, regulations, and industry standards.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Requires a minimum of 15 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 12 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with 10 years’ experience; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience.
  • A minimum of 15 years of proven experience in strategic planning and business development.
  • Strong understanding of corporate financial planning and resource management.
  • In-depth knowledge of corporate governance and general management best practices.
  • Analytical abilities and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of data analysis and performance/operation metrics.
  • Experience in project management and implementation.
  • An entrepreneurial mindset with outstanding organizational and leadership skills.
  • Experience in managing relationships with key stakeholders.
  • A proactive and adaptable mindset to respond to evolving sponsor and organizational priorities.
  • Strong strategic planning and execution skills to align with organizational goals and sponsor objectives.
  • Experience navigating the complexities of working with federal, state, or local government entities.
  • Excellent communication and public speaking skills.
  • A commitment to maintaining the highest ethical standards in all communication interactions.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced Masters degree within a relevant Business curriculum or MBA program
  • Extensive expertise in FFRDC models and a comprehensive understanding of government contracting procedures. Understanding of the unique role and mission of FFRDCs in advancing government research and development efforts.
  • Knowledge of government procurement processes, regulations, and policies.
  • Top Secret Clearance
