Technical expert providing strong leadership in the effective evaluation, management, & technical information exchange of the extensive Xitavo portfolio of soybean varieties and trait technology packages leading to decisive variety placement that optimizes yield potential and performance predictability within specific production regions. 

As a Seed Agronomist (Soybean), You Create Chemistry By...

  • Analyzing complex databases and deliver strong business support findings.
  • Possessing specialized knowledge of variety testing, statistical analysis and experimental design is required. Providing leadership in data management and analysis as well as development of sales support materials. 
  • Reacting to market developments and makes critical decisions for region.
  • Implementing and managing a broad testing program to effectively evaluate BASF

soybean varieties for commercial advancement and placement refinement.

  • Working closely with commercial operations, marketing, supply chain, production,

breeding, trait development, technical service, business representatives and ag solutions advisors to profitably manage a robust product portfolio of seeds and traits; following stewardship and compliance requirements, contributes to the development of commercial strategies and provides product positioning tools for sales. 

  • Leading agronomic and product training activities targeted at BASF Agronomic Solutions Advisors and Business Representatives, customers, university personnel, and other influential customers.
  • Training Agronomic Solutions Advisors on investigative field techniques and assist with product investigation where necessary.
  • Actively engaging special projects to support growth of seed and trait business in US and/or globally. Knowledge extends well beyond own region, with global practice awareness.

If you...

  • Possess a thesis-based MS or PhD degree in a biological or agricultural related science preferred. PhD with minimum of 4 years; MS with minimum of 8 years but 10 plus years is preferred. 
  • Have minimum three years high level performance (at or above expectations) in previous position in an agriculturally related field.
  • Are able to think strategically on short-term and long-term business development.
  • Have technical knowledge of crop management practices of soybean in the US.
  • Possess communication and human relations skills to perform the duties of the position, influence decision makers and project a positive BASF technical image. 
  • Are proficient in computer skills to analyze data, prepare promotional and training literature, and to accomplish written communication tasks.
  • Possess technical expertise of the product portfolio of seed and traits. As well as high level competency in product placement, product management, and competitive offerings.

Pay Transparency

BASF is committed to pay transparency practices. The competitive Pay Range for this role is $1108,160 - $1148,720. Actual pay will be determined based on education, certifications, experience, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
