POSITION SUMMARY

Under the supervision of the Production Shift Supervisor, the Mill Operator I will spend their time operating and monitoring equipment during a constant material flow process. The process consists of operating system controls and mobile / heavy equipment. This task requires an appropriate level of quality inspection to ensure the material is produced to internal specifications. Team communication along with safe work practices are essential and required to maintain a steady process from start to finish.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

75%

  • Operates Mill equipment to properly Start and Stop equipment when necessary.
  • Maintains, monitors, and understands all equipment in the designated area and how it affects the process.
  • Manages Silo levels and readings to ensure material is continuous throughout the system.
  • Operates equipment by use of a Human Machine Interface (HMI) System.
  • Performs start-up and shut-down procedures for all related equipment each week.
  • Performs Lock out Tag out (LOTO) and other safety procedures needed for the Takeoff.
  • Utilizes a Front-End Loader to load and move Scrap material for Recycle.

  • Assists the Production Team on all product changeovers.
  • Completes Quality Inspection Tests on material during processing.
  • Identifies and communicates quality concerns regarding sampling and process flow.
  • Utilizes a Front-End Loader to load raw material into processing equipment.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Establishes Housekeeping and 5S Standards.
  • Actively contributes to WCM (World Class Manufacturing) processes (Six Sigma / Lean Manufacturing).
  • Offers suggestions or recommendations for improvement of plant equipment.
  • Acknowledges others when spoken to in a professional manner.
  • Resolves interpersonal differences in a professional manner.
  • Performs AM / CIL Duties (Work Orders) on Area Equipment.
  • Utilizes Area Improvement Board to track issues and communicate.
  • Other tasks assigned by Supervisor or Manager to meet Production needs.

  • High School diploma
  • Ability to work in a team-based environment with little to no supervision
  • Ability to clearly communicate both verbally and in writing
  • Heavy Equipment Experience (Minimum of 1 Year)

PREFERRED OR DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Manufacturing experience in a team-based environment
  • Familiarity with Safety Programs in a manufacturing facility
  • Basic Computer Skills for Training and Reporting needs
  • Familiar with any Lean Manufacturing Practices
  • Familiar in Autonomous Maintenance practices (Clean/Inspect/Lubricate)
  • Heavy Equipment Experience (3+ Year)
