About the Role

As an Associate Manager, QA Engineering, you will be responsible for overseeing the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of automation frameworks and solutions within our organization. You will lead a team of automation engineers, providing guidance, mentoring, and technical expertise to ensure the successful delivery of automated solutions that improve efficiency, reliability, and scalability across our software development lifecycle.

KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES -

Automation Strategy Development:

Formulate and execute automation strategies aligned with organizational goals and objectives. Identify opportunities for automation across different functional areas and processes.

Team Leadership:

Lead a team of automation engineers, providing guidance, mentorship, and support to ensure the successful execution of automation projects. Foster a collaborative and innovative team culture.

Automation Design and Development:

Design, develop, and maintain scalable and efficient automation frameworks, tools, and scripts to automate repetitive tasks, testing processes, deployments, and infrastructure management.

Quality Assurance:

Collaborate with quality assurance teams to integrate automation into the testing process, ensuring the reliability, accuracy, and effectiveness of automated tests. Implement best practices for test automation and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD).

Continuous Improvement: Monitor and evaluate automation processes and frameworks, identifying areas for improvement and optimization. Implement enhancements to increase efficiency, reliability, and scalability.

Cross-functional Collaboration:

Work closely with software development teams, DevOps engineers, product managers, and other stakeholders to understand requirements, prioritize automation initiatives, and ensure alignment with project timelines and deliverables.

Documentation and Reporting:

Maintain comprehensive documentation of automation processes, workflows, and configurations. Generate reports and metrics to track automation progress, performance, and ROI.

Training and Knowledge Sharing:

Conduct training sessions, workshops, and knowledge sharing sessions to disseminate automation best practices, tools, and techniques across the organization. Foster a culture of learning and innovation.

KEY DELIVERABLES -

  • Develop and maintain robust automation frameworks tailored to the organization's needs, ensuring scalability, reliability, and ease of maintenance.
  • Create comprehensive automated test suites for functional, regression, and integration, covering critical aspects of the software application.
  • Implement and optimize continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines, automating build, test, and deployment processes to accelerate software delivery.
  • Develop automation scripts, tools, and utilities to automate manual tasks, streamline workflows, and improve operational efficiency across development, testing, and deployment environments.
  • Generate detailed test automation reports and metrics to track test coverage, execution results, defect trends, and overall test effectiveness, providing insights for continuous improvement.
  • Maintain thorough documentation of automation frameworks, test scripts, configurations, and deployment procedures, ensuring clarity and consistency for team members and stakeholders.
  • Develop training materials, tutorials, and documentation to facilitate knowledge sharing and skills development in automation practices and tools among team members.
  • Define and communicate a clear automation strategy roadmap, outlining short-term and long-term goals, milestones, and resource requirements to achieve automation objectives.
  • Identify opportunities for process optimization and efficiency gains through automation, proposing and implementing innovative solutions to streamline workflows and reduce manual effort.
  • Provide leadership, mentorship, and guidance to automation engineers, fostering their professional growth, skill development, and contribution to automation initiatives.

About You

You’re a fit for the role of Associate Manager, QA Engineering if your background includes:

  • 10+ years experience designing, developing, and implementing automation frameworks, tools, and solutions.
  • Proficiency in automation technologies and tools such as Selenium, Jenkins, Docker, Kubernetes, etc.
  • Proficiency in programming languages commonly used in automation, preferably C#, Java.
  • In-depth knowledge of software testing principles, methodologies, and best practices.
  • Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) and collaboration tools (e.g., Azure DevOps, Jira, Confluence).
  • Previous experience in a leadership or senior role within an automation or software development team a plus.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with team members, stakeholders, and senior management.
  • Understanding of DevOps principles and practices, including continuous integration, continuous deployment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze complex issues, identify root causes, and propose effective solutions.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including software development, quality assurance, DevOps, and product management teams.
  • Willingness to stay updated with the latest trends, technologies, and best practices in automation engineering and related fields.
  • Experience working in and collaborating with a globally distributed team environment.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • Relevant certifications such as ISTQB, Agile, AWS, Azure DevOps, or certifications specific to automation tools and technologies.
